scanO Air

scanO Air is a contactless AI screening platform designed to capture intraoral images and analyse them for a broad range of oral conditions. The manufacturer says it can screen for 40+ oral conditions in around 10–12 seconds.

How it works: its imaging head automatically finds and captures the mouth from a comfortable distance. AI models analyse the captured images and produce visual clinical signals for review.

How it can help patients: it provides a quick, non-invasive visual starting point and can make areas that need closer attention easier to understand.

02 · Digital impressions

Helios 680

The Helios 680 is an intraoral scanner that creates a detailed digital 3D model of the teeth and oral structures. Eighteeth lists 16 μm full-arch precision, 8 μm single-tooth precision, 30 fps scanning and 24-bit colour capture.

How it works: the handheld scanner captures a continuous stream of optical information as it moves around the teeth. Software reconstructs that information into a digital model that can be viewed and worked with immediately.

How it can help patients: digital impressions can be more comfortable than conventional impression materials and make the patient's teeth easier to visualise. Digital models can also support treatment planning and communication with dental laboratories.

03 · Digital intraoral X-ray

XpectVision XLinearVision

XpectVision's XLinearVision is a digital intraoral X-ray sensor based on photon-counting detection technology. The manufacturer describes direct imaging and a broad dynamic range designed to produce stable digital images.

How it works: X-rays pass through the tooth and are captured directly by the sensor. The resulting digital image can be reviewed and adjusted on screen, giving the dentist a detailed view of structures that cannot be assessed from the surface alone.

How it can help patients: clearer digital imaging supports more informed diagnosis and treatment planning, while immediate digital availability makes it easier for dentist and patient to review findings together.
